GBG’s contingency plans to safeguard customers in the event of a national or regional power outage

You may have seen recent speculation in the media around the possibility of power outages taking place in the UK this winter. We understand this may be a concern for our customers.

We want to assure you that the GBG Technology Team has extremely robust and stress-tested contingency plans in place, both operationally and within our platforms, to ensure our solutions can continue running with minimal disruption for our customers in the event of a power outage.

For your information, here are the details of how our services will continue running, should a power outage affect the UK:

 GBG’s internal infrastructure:

  • Our onsite generator in Chester, Cheshire, will automatically provide power to our critical internal infrastructure, resulting in minimal disruption
  • We have access to continuous support for refuelling the onsite generator should the outage last for an extended period of time
  • Our onsite generator is thoroughly tested annually

Loqate

  • The Loqate platform is predominantly deployed to the public cloud with built in failover and multi-region and zone setup, so can tolerate power disruption without interruption
  • Any loss of power to GBG infrastructure can be tolerated with minimal disruption due to automatic backup generator, as above
  • Our third-party data centre provides power provision for multiple days in case of mains loss

Identity

  • The Identity platform is predominantly deployed to the public cloud with built in failover and multi-region and zone setup, so can tolerate power disruption without interruption
  • Any loss of power to GBG infrastructure can be tolerated with minimal disruption, due to backup generator, as above
  • Our third-party data centre provides power provision for multiple days in case of mains loss

 Documents and Biometrics

  • Documents and Biometrics production platforms are entirely deployed to the public cloud with built in failover and multi-region and zone setup, so can tolerate power disruption without interruption
