Predictive synthetic fraud score
Synthetic Identity Score is a sophisticated scoring model that provides the most predictive synthetic fraud score. The score is built on decades of experience in analysing and contextualising credit bureau data to verify identities. Synthetic Identity Score utilises customer s age and data returned by one or more credit bureaus to provide a view of the identity presented.
The score is calculated using three inputs:
History
The Score analyses the history of an individual's credit footprint to identify if the history is consistent with the individual's age.
Activity
The Activity on the credit record is also analysed to understand if they have active accounts or only historic closed accounts.
Quality
The quality of the types of accounts on the credit file are also taken into consideration as part of the score.
Synthetic Identity Scores
Our advanced scoring model analyses and contextualises credit bureau data searching
for synthetic identity indicators including:
Very high level of risk – score band 1
- Individuals with a negative score and a very high level of risk
High level of risk– score band 2 - 249
- Individuals who hold the accounts for the shortest period and the records are not consistent with their age
- Lack of mortgage or current account
- High percentage of active accounts are mail order, utilities, or telecoms
- All accounts are closed
Medium level of risk – score band 250 - 499
- Individuals who hold accounts for a longer time but the records are not consistent with their age.
- Less likely to have a mortgage or current account
- High percentage of active accounts are mail order, utilities, or telecoms
No active account
Low with inconsistencies
Low level of risk – score band 500 - 699
- Individuals with at least one active account with a history of up to 4 years
- More likely to have a mortgage and or current account
- A lower percentage of mail order, utilities or telecoms accounts
Low with minor inconsistencies
Low level of risk – score band 700 - 849
- Individuals with at least one active account with a history of up to 5 years
- Very likely to have a mortgage and or current account
- A lower percentage of mail order, utilities or telecoms accounts
Low
Low level of risk – score band 850 - 949
- Individuals with at least one active account with a history of up to 8 years
- Highly likely to have a mortgage and or current account
Very low level of risk – score band 950 - 1000
- Individuals with at least one active account with a history of between 8 to 12 years
- Most likely to have a mortgage and or current account
- No or very small percentage of mail order, utilities or telecoms accounts
Unknown level of risk – score band 0
- Individuals with no footprint on the credit bureau(s) a Synthetic Identity Score cannot be determined
