GB Group Plc, the Identity Management specialist, is pleased to announce that Tony Stansfield has been appointed to the role of Chief Technology Officer of GB Group.

Through both acquisitions and organic growth, GB Group has made remarkable progress over the last year and has diversified its suite of products and services and extended its geographical coverage. GB Group is now able to verify the identity of over two billion people across 15 countries, and with the European Commission aiming for 20% of the population to buy cross-border, online by 2015, the market presents a number of further opportunities to leverage customers and partners.

With this growth and diversity, the need has arisen for a highly experienced CTO to further define the Group’s technology strategy, to align this with business goals and to articulate the strategy to clients and partners. A key element of Stansfield’s role as CTO will be to guarantee that innovation, quality and excellence continue to be incorporated into the Group’s technologies, in order to maintain GB Group’s leadership in the identity management space.

Stansfield has over 20 years’ experience in developing software systems and implementing technology strategy for a number of organisations ranging from start-up companies to FTSE 100 and 250 members such as Betfair and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Stansfield joins GB Group from JD Williams where he has spent three years leading the Applications Support and Development team, comprising 110 people and responsible for having adopted significant efficiency improvements and business benefits through improved technology. Prior to this Tony was Development Director at Betfair, reporting directly to the Board, with responsibility for software development for customer products and services with an annual budget in excess of £32 million.
