20 Feb 2006 Tile Specialists Using Zapcode Solution and Bureau Services to Speed Up EPOS Address Capture and Cleanse Customer Database

London – 20th February 2006- Capscan, a leading supplier of International address management solutions, today announced its popular rapid addressing software, Zapcode, has been chosen by tile and wood flooring specialist retailer Topps Tiles. Integrated into Topps Tiles EPOS systems across the UK, Zapcode will dramatically speed up its customer sales transactions and trade registration process in-store, ensuring each record is accurate and to PAF standard. Capscan Bureau Services are also being used to cleanse and de-duplicate Topps Tiles' trade customer database.
Each new customer at one of Topps Tiles' 252 stores needs to have their address data entered into the customer database. Zapcode is being used to capture this information quickly and accurately via the in-store EPOS terminals. The sales personnel simply enter a customer's postcode into the terminal and it allows them to select the correct address from the Zapcode database.
"We looked at four different suppliers and Capscan came out on top as it had all the capability we were looking for and was good value-for-money," explains IT Director at Topps Tiles, Colin Hampson. "Using Zapcode reduces the average transaction completion time and this means any returns can be dealt with efficiently as we already have the customers' correct details. It also gives our salespeople control over what is entered and almost completely reduces the risk of mis-entry. The Zapcode system helps us provide a better customer experience."
Zapcode returns all elements of an address that are common to a postcode entered. It saves up to 80% of the keystrokes required to enter an address, increasing operator efficiency, and ensuring that customers are dealt with quickly and professionally. This is invaluable in any environment where fast, accurate capture of an address is required.
Topps Tiles have purchased licenses for 300 Zapcode users of the EPOS system that is run centrally via its intranet from two servers at its Cheshire headquarters.
Topps Tiles' database contains details of registered trade buyers, growing steadily each month, which had slowly lost data quality over its 9 year existence. "90% of the addresses in the database were of poor quality and there were a lot of duplicate records which would have taken a long time to find and eradicate. Capscan Bureau Services removed duplicate records and made sure all the address details were accurate and up-to-date," adds Colin.
As well as address data cleansing, enhancement and de-duplication services (from its offices in London, Edinburgh and Manchester), Capscan Bureau Services offer International NCOA (National Change of Address) processing, European address cleansing and coding, data capture services and consultancy. It also delivers MPS, TPS, national telephone number change update, mortality screening and lifestyle coding.
