London – 23rd February 2012 – GB Group PLC, GB Group announced today that it has further expanded its strategic alliance with TransUnion to provide full age, identity and anti-money laundering verification to businesses wishing to trade with South African citizens. This follows the launch of GB Group’s verification service for Canadian citizens with TransUnion in June 2011.
GB Group’s global Identity Verification tool enables organisations to make an instant decision on the authenticity of a consumer’s personal details. Using a risk-based approach to identity verification, GB Group’s ID3 technology enables a client to decide if they should accept a new customer into their business, based on validating common personal details including name, address and age even physical location.
John Lord, Managing Director at GB Group said “We recognise the opportunity for transformation and growth for Sub Saharan Africa, based on the steady growth in GDP over the last decade; a significant increase in exports; expansion of its international footprint; and advancements in technology that are unencumbered by legacy infrastructures. Our clients are expressing a heightened interest in the ability to trade safely with African citizens within the online environment. We believe by extending our relationship with TransUnion we have reached a key milestone for GB Group as we expand our global reach to 4 of the 7 continents, and overall we strengthen our commitment to being the global leader in electronic identity verification services.”
Ian Logan, Executive for Insurance and Partners at TransUnion added “We are delighted to be expanding our relationship with GB Group. Given the ongoing growth of international consumer trade across borders, we’re pleased to be taking a leading role in helping to grow economies throughout Africa and provide another level of ecommerce security for our clients and their customers.”
