London – 5th November 2012 -  Leading ID Verification supplier adds CRB checking services to portfolio.

London, 5 November 2012 - GB Group plc, the leading Identity Management business that provides services in both the UK and internationally, has today announced the acquisition of tmg.tv Limited (“TMG CRB”). TMG CRB, based in Nottingham, is the UK’s second largest Criminal Records Bureau (“CRB”) umbrella organisation. Its CRB checking system currently processes over 170,000 checks a year and is used predominantly by organisations who recruit individuals working with children and vulnerable adults1. It is also used for pre-employment checks, a significant growth area.

In summary, the acquisition of TMG CRB will:
•Enable GB Group to access the growing market for online CRB disclosure checks which is consistent with its core proposition of enabling organisations to connect, communicate and transact with individuals safely, responsibly and profitably

•Broaden the service offering GB Group is able to offer its existing CRB client base, which currently stands at over 80 clients, for whom it provides an external ID Verification solution as part of these clients’ CRB application processes

•Enable GB Group to package together an integrated online employment screening solution from across the Group’s data sets to provide ID Verification, criminal record disclosures and entitlement to drive checks

TMG CRB not only manages the CRB checking process, but is one of the few organisations who support clients in managing their safeguarding process and interpret the information printed on a Disclosure result

Commenting on the acquisition, Richard Law, CEO of GB Group, said:
“The CRB checking sector is currently going through the same transformation that we saw in the ID Verification sector, with online processes replacing out-dated and paper-based systems.  TMG CRB has built a strong foothold in this area and we consider that it will be an excellent fit with our other Group offerings.  We will combine TMG CRB’s capability to check criminal records with our existing ID Verification service which will help organisations make safer recruitment decisions more quickly and more efficiently.  Although currently small, the TMG CRB business adds a strategic capability to our overall Identity Management portfolio and the prospect for very positive growth.”

John Lord, Managing Director of GB Group’s ID Verification business added: “GB Group first became aware of the opportunities within the CRB checking sector earlier in the year when the Home Office were looking to strengthen their identity checking process. As part of those enhancements the CRB named GB Group as one of the suppliers capable to provide a Level 2 (Remote) external ID Verification check. We now have a large client base amongst the CRB’s Registered Bodies to help verify the applicant’s real world identity. The acquisition of TMG CRB will enable us to provide a more sophisticated product offering to the criminal record checking sector and will form part of a wider pre-employment screening service.”

Keith Daniell, Managing Director of TMG CRB said, “We're delighted that a company of GB Group's reputation and technical expertise is going to take TMG CRB forward.  We're very proud of what TMG CRB has achieved to date but there's no doubt in my mind that the quality of the people and innovation at GB Group will take TMG CRB to a new level.  I feel that this is not only great news for TMG CRB’s clients and great news for TMG CRB’s outstanding staff but also great news for GB Group and its investors.  The company’s Nottingham base is also something we're proud of and I'm delighted that GB Group believes there is a significant pool of talent here to complement its existing workforce."

1 Prior to the completion of the acquisition, TMG CRB was a combined business comprising a CRB checking division and a non-CRB related Creative Communications agency.  The acquisition is in respect of its CRB checking division, the non-CRB checking activities having been transferred out prior to acquisition.
