Dr Rachel O’Connell, founder & CEO is one of the preeminent authorities on electronic identification and age verification and advises the UK government on these issues. Rachel's research focuses on legislation relating to eIDV, in particular, the 4th EU AML Directive, and how emerging regulation will effect IFA best practise in respect of eIDV.
My Ph.D. focused on online criminal activity and the implications for investigative strategies. I’m the former chief safety officer of BEBO, one of the first mainstream social media platforms and frequently speaks at technology events on all issues related to online identity. In addition to having headed up the Cyberspace Research Unit at the University of Central Lancashire for seven years (1999 – 2006), I am also an advisor to the start-up community platform Founders (F6s.com). I have also worked on projects for the following organisations for Cloud Security Alliance and the Oxford Internet Institute and is an advisor to the Executive Board of UKCCIS on Age Verification Solutions and she was nominated for Future CIO Women in IT awards, 2016.
